AI Literacy & Safety Training

Your staff is already using AI. Most are figuring it out alone, with no shared standard and no way to know if it’s helping or creating problems you can’t see yet.

This isn’t a tool tutorial. It’s a working session built on the AI Awareness Arc, a framework I developed for understanding and teaching safe AI use. The Arc starts from one idea: AI is the first tool in human history designed to feel like a relationship. It was built that way on purpose, because engagement is the business model. We have thousands of years of experience using tools. We have almost none feeling like we’re in a relationship with one. Using AI safely means staying aware enough to stay in charge of that interaction.

I spent 15 years as CTO of the Alliance for Downtown New York, and I’m also a marriage and family therapist and licensed master social worker who writes the Human-Centered Technology column for Psychology Today, where four of my pieces have been designated Essential Reads. I delivered a three hour continuing education course built on the Arc at Rutgers University School of Social Work in April 2026. 93 percent of attendees rated it extremely or very valuable, and 100 percent said they left feeling more confident handling AI related situations at work.
